within the project "How do we turn Salt into Sugar?"
We cannot translate our trauma, so we choose to share it with others, not to avoid or deny it, but to intensify, to observe the trauma as a transformation. In the abode of surzhik and its mechanisms, translation alone is not enough. The translation multiplies into a hybridity of meanings, layering on a hybridity of contexts, twisting into nuances and references. Most of which do not lie on the surface but in the corners of narratives. Fluid creatures and characters of Lesya Ukrainka are one of such corner that are dear to our hearts. Contrary to the linear time we are in a time of drama-féerie, a feminist time, where there is enough space for grief, change, empathy, fragility, of mutual understanding not only through speech but also simply through mutual coexistence.
